While many associate November and December with being the holiday season, the Washington Post<\/a> reports that it\u2019s also a popular time of year to pop the question. In fact, according to our Bethesda, Maryland neighbor, WeddingWire<\/a>, 33 percent of engagements happen between Thanksgiving and New Year\u2019s Day.<\/p>\n

For most, a marriage proposal is a once-in-a-lifetime event. Whether it takes place on a Ferris wheel at an amusement park, in Paris underneath the Eiffel Tower, on a secluded sandy beach or in the kitchen at your apartment, it\u2019s a special moment. And it\u2019s a story that you will treasure forever and tell and retell to friends, family, strangers and acquaintances \u2014 and possibly your future children. Heck, even we want to know!<\/p>\n

And as with every good story, the details matter. Where were you when he popped the question? How did it happen? Who was there? What did he (or she) say? Did he get down on one knee? Was it funny? Was he nervous? Were you surprised? You obviously said \u201cyes!\u201d So let\u2019s see the ring!<\/em><\/p>\n

No matter when or where it happens, marriage proposals are unique, romantic and personal stories that are truly one-of-a-kind. So why not commemorate the event in an equally original way? Consider the following five suggestions for capturing your engagement story in a way that makes it fun to share today, tomorrow and for years to come:<\/p>\n

1. Put on an engaging performance.<\/strong> Lights, camera, action! Turn YouTube into WeTube by creating a video that reenacts or documents the day he put a ring on it. Need inspiration?
