The approach that is right for you will depend on:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Whether your move is permanent or temporary.<\/li>\n<li>Whether you\u2019re planning on also continuing business in your old state.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Approach #1: Your move is permanent and you have no plans to continue business in your old state.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dissolve your corporation in the old state, start it in the new state.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>File an \u201cArticles of Dissolution\u201d or \u201cCertificate of Termination\u201d document with your old state\u2019s Secretary of State in order to dissolve your corporation.<\/li>\n<li>Your corporation will need to be in good standing (up to date on state taxes, state filings, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Form a new Corporation with the Secretary of State in your new state<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><strong>Approach #2: Your move is temporary or you are planning on continuing business in your old state. <i>(This would also be the approach to take if you\u2019re not moving, but just plan on conducting business in another state.)<\/i><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>File a Foreign Qualification in the new state.<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>File foreign corporation paperwork with the new state. In some states, it\u2019s called the Statement and Designation; in other states it\u2019s called the Foreign Qualification application.<\/li>\n<li>Resembles the Articles of Incorporation document you first used to file your corporation<\/li>\n<li>You may need to enter details such as your corporation\u2019s name, domestic state, stock information, corporate offices, registered agent, principle office or location you\u2019ll be using in your new state, etc.<\/li>\n<li>Have a Certificate of Good Standing document from your domestic state<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Remember that specifics may vary by state \u2013 plan to double check your state\u2019s rules for legally moving a corporation.
