Each year since 1963, the Prez has issued a proclamation acknowledging you for all your hard work. And you 100-percent deserve it!<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><b>DID YOU KNOW?<\/b> America\u2019s entrepreneurs and small business owners and their employees make up <b>more than half of the American workforce<\/b>. Also, small businesses create about <b>two out of every three new jobs<\/b> in the U.S. each year.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As part of National Small Business Week, the <a title=\"sba.gov\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sba.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">U.S. Small Business Administration<\/a>\u00a0takes the opportunity to highlight the impact of outstanding entrepreneurs, small business owners and others from all 50 states and U.S. territories. \u201cEvery day, they\u2019re working to grow small businesses, create 21st\u00a0century jobs, drive innovation, and increase America\u2019s global competitiveness,\u201d says the U.S. Small Business Administration.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.123print.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Ideas-for-National-Small-Business-Week-123Print-Blog.jpg\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-7161\" title=\"Ideas for National Small Business Week - 123Print Blog\" alt=\"Ideas for National Small Business Week - 123Print Blog\" src=\"http:\/\/www.123print.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Ideas-for-National-Small-Business-Week-123Print-Blog.jpg\" width=\"194\" height=\"219\" \/><\/a>This year, National Small Business Week is <b>May 12-16<\/b>, and the U.S. Small Business Administration plans to hold events in San Francisco, Washington D.C., Boston and Kansas City. You can sign up for updates <a title=\"National Small Business Week | sba.gov\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sba.gov\/nsbw\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>With this in mind, it\u2019s a good time to be motivated to make some small business improvements! Do your business some good by considering the following tips and information from the U.S. Small Business Administration:<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-size: 18px; color: #ff771c;\">1. Hire an employee.<\/span> So often small businesses start up with just you, the small business owner, handling everything from finances to operations to marketing, you name it. Are you in a place where you can hire an employee now? It\u2019s a big investment, but also an investment in the future of your business. Hiring an employee will take some of the weight off of your shoulders so that you can concentrate on the business side of things. Find out about employment and labor laws, including required employee benefits, as well as writing effective job descriptions <a title=\"Hire &amp; Retain Employees | sba.gov\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sba.gov\/category\/navigation-structure\/starting-managing-business\/starting-business\/establishing-business\/hiring\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">right here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-size: 18px; color: #ff771c;\">2. Learn the law of the land.<\/span> You might have jumped in to market and advertise your business \u2014 kudos to you for being on the ball! \u2014 without reading up on the basic rules that come with labeling, advertising and marketing your services. Brush up on those things now, with <a title=\"Advertising &amp; Marketing Law | sba.gov\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sba.gov\/content\/advertising-and-marketing-law\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">these tips<\/a> on how to ensure your claims are truthful, not deceptive (even unintentionally so!) and that your marketing tactics don\u2019t break any laws. This includes email, telemarketing and more.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold; font-size: 18px; color: #ff771c;\">3. Find out how you stack up.<\/span> In order to succeed, it\u2019s always good to know who your competitors are and how your small business stacks up, right?!
