\"The<\/a>Communication is one of the keys to small business success. Communication impacts execution, profitability, and most importantly, growth. As a leader<\/a>, it\u2019s imperative that you share updates about the current state of the business, and lay out the direction\/vision of where you see your business going.<\/p>\n

Over the years, I have found transparency to be the best approach for me. It allows me to converse openly on all fronts \u2014 the good, the bad, the ugly.\u00a0 This way you can cut to the chase and address any misperceptions, clarify recently asked questions, and\/or ground the team back to the basics.<\/p>\n

One way that I\u2019ve tried to share our company\u2019s performance in a group setting is to host a monthly meeting. I know what you may be thinking, \u201cAnother meeting. Great, thanks.\u201d Trust me, it\u2019s crucial that you make the effort; your employees deserve the time and information.<\/p>\n

Helpful hints to run an effective, informative company meeting:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Determine the top three<\/strong> goals you want to achieve<\/li>\n
  2. Create and send out an agenda<\/li>\n
  3. Try out different formats\/forums to see works best for you and your team<\/li>\n
  4. Plan for interactive sections throughout<\/li>\n
  5. Be prepared for the easy and hard questions<\/li>\n
  6. Record action items<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
