15 Halloween Costumes for Adults – That Aren’t Offensive!

The problem with Halloween costumes for adults is that they always seem to be offensive in one way or another. Women’s costumes are overly sexual and men’s costumes are overly grotesque.  Of course this doesn’t apply to all adult themed or couple themed costumes – but it does seem to be quite prevalent every Halloween, even on party invitations. Note: The link for party invitations is 100% safe for work. Scout’s honor!

If you’re anything like me, you’d rather not be showing off any skin or offending anyone on Halloween night or the weekend leading up to Halloween, so take some cues from the people who put creativity over offending others:

A Piñata

Whether you’re a couple, or it’s your “work spouse” that needs to impress – this will surely get some attention. Plus, you can let out some hidden aggression with that wiffle ball bat. Those things can hurt!

A Rubix Cube

I’m not really sure if this is a walking invitation to have yourself grabbed and twisted to make sense or not, but it’s definitely creative and geeky. Win.

Paulie Bleeker and Juno MacGuff from the movie Juno

This would be especially great for a couple expecting a child. Half your costume is already made then!

A Toaster

Not to be confused with Battlestar Galactica’s Cylons, which the humans on that show refer to as “toasters,” but if you want to go that route I beg you to send pictures.

Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox

I don’t want to touch this one. I don’t.

Lady Gaga

You’ve got tons of insane costumes to choose from, and I don’t really think there’s a “wrong way” to dress up as Gaga, so have fun. Just please don’t wear a meat dress.

Anyone from Harry Potter

Get some friends together and go as the entire cast. This isn’t considered “nerdy,” since you’re not dressing up for a movie, so go nuts with this one.

Stewie from Family Guy

I love Stewie a lot, but this is purely horrifying. The football shaped head is to the extreme and it’s AWESOME.

Dunkin Donuts

Again, get a bunch of friends together (or couples), decorate some inner tubes and you’ve got a bunch of donuts.

Beaker from The Muppets

If you’re going to dress up as any Muppet, go for the ginger obnoxious one. I say this with love by the way. Beaker was always my favorite.

Statler and Waldorf from The Muppets

If you want an excuse to crack jokes at other people’s expenses all while looking like an old man, I suggest dressing up as The Muppets’ resident hecklers. Bring Beaker along with you.

Angry Birds

Dressing up as an Angry Bird does not mean you have permission to throw yourself at people, into buildings, or try to harm pigs. Seriously.

And for those of you that want to have your entire family dress up in some type of theme for Halloween:

Hot Dog and Condiments

Grab the couple’s classic Mustard and Ketchup costume, and then put your little one in a hot dog costume. Voila! Delicious!

The Incredibles

Note: You cannot animate dad’s muscles so he will have to make do with what he has.

Blues Clues

Indulge your little ones, mom and dad. Especially you dad, dressing up like Steve.

Most importantly, stay safe this Halloween. It’s a time for fun, costumes and pigging out – no dramatics this year, guys!
