One of my youngest sisters (I have two) recently got engaged, and I think my other sister and myself are contemplating what the wedding will be like more than the engaged sister. The engaged sister isn’t super girly and is incredibly laid back, but she can also be a control freak. She has to have everything a certain way, and I am 96% sure that trying to find the perfect wedding ensemble is going to be what takes the longest. That’s not to say that that is a bad thing.
I’ve yet to be engaged so all of my opinions on wedding planning are based solely off of my friends planning their weddings, and wedding shows on TLC. It seems to me (and someone please correct me if I’m wrong) that the dress, the invitations and the wedding colors seem to be what takes the most time to figure out. Of course everything takes planning, time and consideration but those three things mentioned seem to be what cause the most grief. If this holds any semblance of truth, my sister will be among the billions of brides who know exactly how they want their wedding invitations to look, try their hardest to make their idea a reality, and then get so stressed out they forget to enjoy themselves at the wedding. Again, this isn’t typical of every bride! It seems to me that there are countless brides that let loose as soon as the actual wedding ceremony is over and done with. The reception is always a time for good food, partying until your feet are blistered, good beer, friends and family. But why wait until the reception to let loose? Why not let loose at the actual wedding ceremony? Have some fun when you’re walking down the aisle. It’s your day. You, your fiancee, family and friends have worked long and hard for everything to go as smoothly as possible… live it up.
Back on July 19th, 2009, TheKheinz uploaded a video of Jill and Kevin (and their wedding party) dancing down the aisle to “Forever” by Chris Brown. This video took the Nation by surprise, resulting in more and more people letting loose for the actual wedding ceremony. This video even inspired NBC’s The Office to incorporate the song and dance into Jim and Pam’s wedding.
After slaving over YouTube for hours and watching dozens upon dozens of videos of wedding parties strutting their stuff with shocked family member looking on, I’ve decided on three videos that really showcase how much fun you and your wedding party can have before you even step foot in the reception hall:
Kristen Mak’s wedding party danced down the aisle to “Forever” by Chris Brown (like the cast of The Office and original wedding aisle dancers Jill and Kevin), but with Chippendales to spice things up.
Phil and Elina opted to have their small wedding party class it up with simple choreography to Canon in D Major, and then launch into some booty shaking with C&C Music Factory’s classic “Gonna Make You Sweat.”
Nathan and Kayla took the groomsmen dressed in black seriously, and opted to have their wedding party shake what their mama gave them to Will Smith’s 1997 hit “Men in Black.”
So, not every person that danced in these videos would win So You Think You Can Dance, but they made the bride and groom’s wedding completely memorable and helped the guests have fun. It got a lifelong committment off on a positive and fun foot – which hopefully carried over into these couples marriages.
