How to Create a Brand Identity

Building a brand identity is one of the first steps in starting your small business. It sets the tone for your company and helps to keep you on the successful path you envisioned. According to Flat World Communication, your company’s identity is a set of qualities that makes you recognizable and special. Here are some helpful tips on how to create a powerful brand and make it stick.

Sell Yourself – Knowing what your company stands for, and why it’s different from everyone else, will make it easier to attract an audience. With that being said, find out who your target audience is and make what you can do for them, as clear as possible.

Create Credibility – You will want to design a logo and tagline that will effectively reel people in, while keeping true to what your business stands for. The look and feel of your website also plays a role in differentiating your company or organization. Take your time with this part – if you throw something together in a day, it will likely look like it. Potential customers will see the effort being put into your brand which will, in turn, boost your credibility.

Connect All Outlets – Most people don’t realize the importance of a social media strategy, but this outlet will act as a more conversational tool for your customers. With a light and carefree feel, social media channels emotionally connect with people, and will show them the more relaxed side of your company. This is also a great place to listen to what others suggest, and then use that constructive criticism to continue to build up your company. Convince & Convert has a great refresher blog on social media strategies – take a look!

Act On Your Words – Talking to your customers and getting valuable information from them is crucial, but if you don’t take action on it, your business will struggle, as well as your customer base. Follow through and mean what you say because top-notch customer service is the one thing people will remember. Good customer reviews will then trickle down the grapevine, expanding your clientele.

Your brand identity should be the one thing that stays consistent throughout your company’s lifespan. Keep your messaging clear and concise, and be sure that all of your channels match up with each other. Doing this will earn the trust and business of the customers you always wanted.
