Halloween is a lot like Christmas insofar that there are many scrooges out there who refuse to get in the spirit of the holiday. Some hate giving out treats to trick-or-treaters while others simply don’t want to dress up. (more…)
[caption id="attachment_8187" align="alignleft" width="300"] Giving employees incentives to participate in your Halloween office party is key.[/caption] Christmas parties at work have been the norm for decades now, but how many of you actually work somewhere that celebrates Halloween? I for one would enjoy a nice Halloween party at work, but for various reasons pulling off a good or semi-successful Halloween office party seems to be easier said than done. But why? (more…)
Halloween is a time for costumes, fun and gorging yourself on candy. Being that it’s exactly two weeks until Halloween, you’ve probably seen an influx of Halloween party invitations show up in your mailbox, but most children look forward to trick-or-treat more than a party. When I was still young enough to trick-or-treat, (and wow it's been awhile since it was socially acceptable for me to dawn a costume and ask strangers for candy) I was that kid who wasn't allowed to eat any of the candy until my parents inspected every single piece. Growing up, I never understood this. I thought my parents were paranoid and being overly protective. I was naive (like all small children) and didn't understand why or how anyone could harm children via candy. It…
The problem with Halloween costumes for adults is that they always seem to be offensive in one way or another. Women’s costumes are overly sexual and men’s costumes are overly grotesque. Of course this doesn’t apply to all adult themed or couple themed costumes – but it does seem to be quite prevalent every Halloween, even on party invitations. Note: The link for party invitations is 100% safe for work. Scout's honor! If you’re anything like me, you’d rather not be showing off any skin or offending anyone on Halloween night or the weekend leading up to Halloween, so take some cues from the people who put creativity over offending others: A Piñata Whether you’re a couple, or it’s your “work spouse” that needs to impress – this will surely…
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! No. Not the winter holidays where families get together, laugh, eat, be merry, and give each other gifts. No no. This is better. It’s the time of year where parents put their children in ridiculous (maybe awesome…) costumes for Halloween. I’m not a parent, but a lot of my friends are, and it seems to me that the younger the child is the bigger the advantage is to the parent. This is the parents’ time to dress their child up in ridiculous costumes because they are “cute,” and the child can’t do a freakin’ thing about it. Most of the time you see babies dressed as cute animals or some type of vegetable. There’s the typical costume where a baby is a…

When you’re a kid, you count down the days until you can put on your costume and race from house to house collecting as much candy as you possibly can. It seems like a feast is sitting in your plastic pumpkin or pillow case. Life can’t get any better (at least until Christmas). When you’re an adult, Halloween is really just an excuse to act like a jackass and drink a lot of alcohol. The one thing adults and kids alike both look forward to when Halloween rolls around every year are the parties. Obviously for different reasons, but that’s beside the point. Planning any kind of party can be difficult and tedious, but trying to plan a Halloween party has got to be one of the more stressful events.…
