6 Proofreading Tips

“I was working on the proof of one of my poems all the morning, and took out a comma. In the afternoon I put it back again.” – Oscar Wilde

Remember back when you were in high school and your teachers always stressed the importance of proofreading your work, because spelling and grammar counted? The same holds true when it comes time to proof a business card, a wedding invitation or your yearly family Christmas card. You want to make sure everything is perfect!

To achieve the desired perfection, please remember the following tips when you’re entering any and all information on a 123Print product, or writing/typing any important document:

1.)   Read every sentence and word out loud, exactly how you have it written.
2.)   Read from the end to the beginning, so you aren’t reading in context.
3.)   Proof it once and then come back to it later to proof it again.
4.)   Use a spell checker and grammar checker.
5.)   Pay close attention to fonts that are unusual (italics and bold mainly)
6.)   Have a friend or family member proof for you. A new set of eyes always helps.

Proofreading takes time. Go over your design or document more than once. Always have a fresh set of eyes go over your design or document. If you want to ensure perfection, put the time into achieving it!

  1. You could definitely see your expertise in the work you write. The world hopes for even more passionate writers like you who are not afraid to mention how they believe. At all times follow your heart.

  2. Wow! Thank you! I permanently wanted to write on my website something like that. Can I implement a portion of your post to my website?
