If there’s one thing most of us here at 123Print like to do it’s eat. We’ll turn pretty much anything into an excuse to put the feed bag on! As it turns out, lots of the folks here at 123Print are quite good at rustlin’ up decent grub too. Since tomorrow’s the first day of fall and it’s been a bit on the cool side here in Maryland we thought a little Chili Cook Off would be good for getting in an Autumn frame of mind. Of course it turns out that today was the hottest, most humid day we’ve had in three weeks and we set-up shop in the hottest, stuffiest room in the joint – but the chili, cornbread and fixin’s were good! We’d have loved to invite all of you to the shindig; but that would have been tough. So instead we’re going to share the results – and the recipes for each chili entered – with you right here!
With five chili entries, each distinctly different, five cornbread contributions, and just about everything you can think of to serve with chili, we had a pretty good turnout for an office of about 50 folks! The entries included:
White Chicken Chili from Ally, one of our Visual Media designers
Habenero Whisky Chili from Michael in our Customer Care Department
Cincinnati Chili from Product Marketing Specialist Laura
Vegetarian Chili from Creative Director Kate
West Virginia Mountaineer Roadkill Chili from rabid West Virginia fan and Organic Marketing guy Clark
After gorging ourselves we all voted by putting a slip of paper with our name on it in the cup of our favorite and cup with the most votes was…
- Clark’s Roadkill Chili (no actual roadkill was harmed in the making of his Chili – this time at least) took second place.
- Ally’s spicy take on White Chicken Chili took a respectable third.
- Michael’s fear-inducing creation came in fourth – not bad considering the wuss factor on hot stuff around here!
- Kate’s Vegetarian Chili came in fifth but was the favorite amongst the vegetarian contingency here at 123Print – and even some of the carnivores admitted it was pretty decent for being meatless.
Since everyone out there in 123Print land couldn’t be here with us, we asked each cook to make recipe sharing cards out of our postcards and we’re sharing an electronic version of each delicious one with you! Just right click and save each one you want to try. And hey, if you have a recipe you are famous for and everyone always asks you for it, make some recipe sharing cards out of our custom postcards for yourself to hand out. While you’re digging around in your recipes, if you have a favorite chili recipe you’d like to share here send it in and we’ll try it out and post it on the 123Print Blog!

And apparently landing in an unattended bowl of spicy chili will kill the infamous stinkbugs Maryland has become infested with! Yay chili! You’re our hero!
Oh yeah…if it’s not obvious, you should combine all the ingredients of my Mountaineer Roadkill Chili in a pot and simmer for 2-3 hours. Congrats to Laura! That was some damn good chili!
Some advice: WEAR GLOVES when you slice the habaneros. Unless you like extreme pain in your fingertips for the next two hours afterward.
