How to Make a Good Outdoor Banner

123Print Small Graduation BannerHave you ever considered using an outdoor banner? Banners are great for both work and play! Whether you’re using them to promote an end of the year sale or just to broadcast your company’s message, banners work as a great go-to tool for catching potential clients’ eyes. You can even use them for a graduation celebration or a garage sale! Whatever the reason may be, your banner must look professional and be attention-grabbing. Check out these simple tips to achieve maximum outdoor banner success:

123Print Small Banner - Come Fly With Me1. Keep it simple. Put all the necessary information (who, what, where, when, why) and make sure not to overcrowd it. Make sure to leave enough room for one (maybe two) eye-catching images. Keep in mind that most people don’t like reading a lot of promotional copy, especially if your banner is something they are going to see while driving!

2. Use a full color banner. Remember those stick-em vinyl letters? Those days are over! Full color printing gives you an awesome array of options, including using a photo as your background or printing in special colors.

123Print Medium Banner - Empty Beach3. Chose the right contrast. As far as design goes, this is one of the most important elements. If your banner is going to be seen from a distance, you need to use high contrast colors. Think yellow on a blue background, or stay simple with black letters on a white background.

4. Chose the right material. Vinyl is a great material that is both durable and affordable, and can be used both outside and inside.

123Print Large Banner - Conspicuous Cost Cutter5. Have proper hanging materials. Banners that come with grommets are ideal. (Grommets are rings inserted into a hole through a material. In the case of banners, they usually come in all four corners). You can use rope or zip ties to secure the banner through the grommets. Try to avoid bungee cords – they can flap too loudly, especially in the wind.

6. Make your banner stand out by using both sides. In some cases, you may be able to hang your banner from an overhead support so that you can print on either side.

Take these six things into consideration and get ready to see your outdoor banner make a BIG impression this spring! Have you ever used a banner? Let us know about your success stories in the comments below.
